The medical world is constantly developing and evolving. Medical 3D printers are making those developments even easier.
At North West Aerotooling we know how easy 3D Printers can make bringing an idea to life. So what could this mean for those in the medical industry? There have been several major advancements in the medical industry with one being the printing of actual human organs. At least parts of the organs. They have successfully been able to print kidney cells and sheets of cardiac tissue which has been able to beat like a real heart.
One major development that 3D printers could soon improve the process of is skin grafts. The benefit that this could have for victims of burn incidents, skin cancer and other kinds of skin problems would be evolutionary. Since 2010 medical engineers in Germany have been developing cell bioprint. They will hope that it will one day be able to be applied directly to the body and speed up the process.
Medical 3D printers have already been used in the cosmetic industry to do reconstructive surgery such as a nose or an ear. They are rebuilt in a computer and then the cartilage cells are removed from the patient. These are then made into a shaping mold. From here the body parts can then be shaped and ready to transplant onto the body.
3D printers have the ability to revolutionise the medical industry. At North West Aerotooling we look forward to developing our services with our newly invested 3D printer.
