Taking our Lynx Tooling project to the next level – Sliding Fairing
In a previous post we introduced you to the Lynx tooling project, specialist tooling required for the latest fleet of Agusta Westland Lynx helicopters.
In this blog we’ll be showing you the second stage of production. Firstly though lets tell you how we came to work on this project. The client came to North West Aerotooling looking for a solution to an area of production that required improvement. We were tasked to create a new tooling suite, so that the final component would require no re-work (as previously experienced) and provide smooth integration with the aircraft.
“Our objective is to make the build more efficient; saving time, money and resources”. North West Aerotooling Management
Its good to know that looking after your customers and supplying high quality services proves valuable, since it was a key reason our client chose to work with North West Aerotooling. Through past experience of working with us, they were confident in our ability to come up with the right solution first time.
The following images are the process from the model though, rough master mould to tool development.
From these master models we are then able to create DSCN3102 that is the mould tooling produced from 20150429 (Master Model)
Keep visiting our blog to see the final instalment. On completion of the mould tooling we move to the final phase; Drill & Trim fixture.
